The summer, and all of the great memories we made out on the water, are behind us. But fall boating has it's perks too! Here are are four reasons why your boating season isn't over when the calendar flips to September

1. Less Crowded

There's nothing better than having the lake to yourself, right? Nobody is flying by you and throwing a huge wake at you, the lake is wide open and it's peaceful. As soon as schools are back in and vacations are done, the crowd at the lake lightens up and you'll have that much more lake to explore by yourself.

2. Better Fishing

The summer heat causes fish to get lazy - their metabolism slows down as they conserve energy and try to keep their bodies cool in hotter weather, especially during the day. Unless you're waking up with the sun everyday, the fish might not be biting.

But the fall? The water starts to cool and fish activity really start biting as they get fat for winter. The fall is typically when fish are biting the most, and even during the peak of the day.

3. Beautiful Foliage

Boating on Ohio's beautiful inland lakes gives people a front-row view to autumn's color explosion. Oaks, maples, and beeches turn from their summer green into the magnificent golds, vibrant reds and dazzling oranges. Seeing this spectacle from a boat, with a refreshing fall breeze in your face, and a glass of apple cider in your hand, is a magical experience.

4. Perfect Temperatures

Maybe you're someone who enjoys those 95 degree days (and hey, a boat is a pretty great place to be on those kinds of days!), but we're willing to bet that you're more comfortable when the temps are in the 60s and 70s. That's what you can expect in September and early October in Ohio. Even better, throw on that comfy fall hoodie and sweatpants and cruise the lake in true comfort.
